A Gift of the Heart
Letting People Know You Love Them

It’s easy to take our feelings for granted and to assume that the people we care about know how we feel about them. But while those we love are often quite cognizant of our feelings, saying "I love you" is a gift we should give to our loved ones whenever we can. Letting people know you love them is an important part of nurturing any kind of loving relationship. Few people tire of being told they are loved, and saying "I love you" can make a world of difference in someone’s life, take a relationship to a new level, or reaffirm and strengthen a steady bond. Everyone needs to hear the words "I love you." Three simple words – I - Love - You. When you declare your love for someone you admit to them that you care for them in the most significant way.

It can be difficult to express your love using words, particularly if you grew up around people that never expressed their affection verbally. But you should never be afraid to say "I love you" or worry that doing so will thrust you into a position of excessive vulnerability. It is important to share your feelings with those that matter to you. Part of the fulfillment that comes with loving someone is telling them that you love them. Besides, love exists to be expressed, not withheld.

If you love someone, let them know. Don’t be afraid of the strength of your emotions or worry that your loved one won’t feel the same way. Besides, the words "I love you" are often best said to another without expectation of a return investment. As each one of us is filled with an abundance of love, there is never any worry that you’ll run out of love if your expression of love isn’t said back to you. Saying, "I love you" is a gift of the heart sent directly via words to the heart of a recipient. Even though it may not always look that way, love from the heart is an offering that is always unconditional and given without strings attached. That is the true essence of the gift of "I love you."

Sarah Palin Pardons a Turkey...

... While others slaughtered behind her. We all know that the media has field days with Sarah, this is another prime example, but somehow poor Sarah sets herself up for these moments.

This news story seems more like a video from The Onion News Network, yet, if you were to ask her if she's planning on having one of these turkeys for Thanksgiving, she'd most like say "You betcha!".

Enjoy

Hello All,

Well... I'm still alive, the Sun's still a blazing glory, and I haven't dropped off the face of the Earth yet, even though I keep looking for the ends. But, I've finally come to the conclusion that the Earth IS ACTUALLY ROUND and limitless. Who'd'a'thunk? :) Things have been incredibly Amazing, and incredibly bizzy, and time has been flying by as fast as cats on a polished hardwood floor. Geesh, it's already THANKSGIVING, and I'm wondering where the year went? It's been a most extraordinary year though, and lot's of crazy stories to tell around the campfire someday. However much I'm enjoying this really Late Indian Summer, I'm still missing the SNOW. If you know me, you know that I LOVE THE COLD --> WHEN THERE's SNOW ON THE GROUND. Otherwise, it's just cold. So if anyone knows how I can get a hold of Jack-Frost or Ma-Nature, gimme their number or e-mail address, and I'll write a strongly worded letter. :) I can be very persuasive when I try. ;)

I am, however, enjoying the warm days of late, and getting outside to do my yoga and meditation comfortably. The sun was directly overhead only 3 short months ago, and now it peaks through the leaf-less branches of the sleeping trees, from the south. I see some strange shadows from time to time, and as always I get lost in my imagination. It's a perfect setting for collecting my thoughts and centering my self.

The Autumn, in my experiences throughout life, has been one of the most profound times of the year for me. Growing up, it was always my Birthday, and the return to the days of School when I would start to gather my new harvest of friends for the winter and spring. Then, in my teen years it became the time for high school football games and playing the Sax in Pep-Band, and doing our Marching band routines for the football games and for competition. Some of my fondest memories were trying to stay close to one another, just to keep warm in the stands as we made some VERY close friends. lol. And then, after high school, the Autumn season for me, was suddenly inundated with endless Summer weather, the Marine corps and Bootcamp. The tumbling temperatures, the aromas of decadence, and the myriad of sepia tones slowly faded into what seemed to be only a blurry impressionist masterpiece of my memories of the fall.

Upon my arrival in Colorado last year, I was able to experience my very first Autumn after 8 years of Summer. I was in beautiful Telluride around this time last year, and I had never felt the Earth quake beneath my feet so much as it did when I saw the country-side blanketed in Golds and Reds and Colors I cannot lend my effort to describing as accurately as they should be described. It was my first experience of the season through these new eyes, and I opened my doors and my heart to a flash-flood of never-before-seen beauty and the ultimate surreality. In a moment, I knew that my life had been missing out on an important time-period of growth, thriving, decay, and sleep.

WHAT A YEAR 2008 certainly has been. I've been in search of creating my own definition of Home, and where it truly is, and have wondered if it is even a place I can locate on a map. I remember around January of 06, I was getting ready to move out of Yuma, AZ and back to Denver. It was certain to happen, and Somehow I ended up going the opposite direction and ended up in Sunny San Diego, California - A world of complete newness to me. For the first 6 months of the year in San Diego, I took another trip into the education world of life, and learning what it takes to have the life I want to have. I began learning the steps to personal happiness, and freedom from self-bondage. I took yoga classes and learned to meditate. I read book after book, and listened to CD after CD. I watched certain movies over and over again. I never sensed that the learning would actually change me for the better as much as it did.

The 30th of June, 2007 marked the turning point, when just before, I had begun to fear that all of my learning and studies were never going to materialize into something of substance that I could call my life. That day marked one of the greatest days in my life. It became the first day that I stepped out into the world as a New Person, with wisdom and knowledge as a permanent part of me, that I could share with the world in ways I'd never known before. Up until this turning point in my life, I was lost when it came to home. I didn't know if my home was in Denver... Yuma... San Diego... or somewhere over yonder. Christopher S. Hyatt said, "To clear the mind of its noise, then to lose the mind altogether. This is meditation. (Of course some would call this insanity.)" Just as I got lost in the world of living my life, I was found, and I had found my home. I met some great people who've engraved their footprints in my life and some of them on my heart. My circle of friends, and acquaintances, and mentors, expanded and grew to a size I could only dream of while growing up as a teenager.

I Still miss San Diego, and plan on returning sometime in my future, if not to live, then to visit all of my friends that I do miss dearly. But, having lived in Denver for almost a year and a half now, I've discovered my very own plot of land, I've re-claimed it from the Denverites, I've planted my flag, and have since started building the foundations for my future in this place that I an now able to call "My Home." :) Denver stole my heart this year, and I've had no problem with that whatsoever. In Denver I've continued to meet remarkably wonderful people from all walks of life, that have made their very own home in my heart, and I consider myself blessed and ever-so grateful that these wonderful people consider themselves lucky to have me in their lives as well. I really do love my life, and I have EVERY reason to!!!

As Turkey-Day (or steak-day, or tofurkey-day, or what have you) quickly Approaches, aside from doing a lot of cooking, baking, eating and celebrating, I will be doing a lot of thanking, inside myself, and to certain individuals that have been incomparably profound teachers, friends, loved ones and companions along my journey. There has never been another year like this one, and if things keep going the way they are, I'm certain that I have nothing but complete perfection, joy, happiness, growth, friendship, and Love to look forward to. It makes me all warm and cozy, just thinking about it.

I'll be around throughout the season, e-mailing, and talkin' on the fone, socializing, and workin' like usual, so feel free to say "Hi." As you may know, I just LOVE sharing MY updates with all of you, but it's always nice to hear how my loved ones are doing as well. How are you? What's new? How's your year been? Did anything Exciting happen? What have you learned this year? Where have you gone? How have you grown? I believe we're all students in this classroom of life, and the experiences that we share with each other help us all learn and grow to become better people. No one person knows all about life, and there's no one that doesn't know enough. Life is about coming together and bringing our very own unique stories to the table and touching the heart of another.

Until we chat, I am wishing you a most joyous start to your Holiday Season. The winter, the cold, and the snow bring us closer together in the warmth of our hearts and homes, so start enjoying all of the festivities, the hot cocoa, the shopping, the lights, the smiles, and the comforts that the holiday season is sure to bring with it. And, if there is someone special in your life that brings you smiles and joy, there is ne'er a more perfect time to let them know just how much they mean to you. :) You are all very important people in my life, and I wouldn't be the man that I am today without the touch of energy from your hand to mine, the words that you've contributed to my life's book, or the love that you've shared from deep within your heart. It is for these, that I have never been more grateful.

Relax...
Feel the Earth move beneath your feet...
Sway with the wandering winds of time and space...
And Remember to always BREATH...
BREATH...
And BREATH again... :)

Always Livin' and Lovin' Life
Love and Light to You All

P.S. Just in Case I forget, could you please send me your current contact information? I'm updating my records and would like to make sure I have you in my book! :) Address, Phone, Websites, Social Security (just kidding)... :) Anything you'd like to share. Thanks A Whole Bunch!!!

P.P.S. Here's a poem I wrote back in 2005 that I thought I'd share with ya! Enjoy

*Autumn Breezes...
By: Michael A. Cordova

I hear the blowing winds through the aspen and pine,
and I feel the echoing breeze of the November chill,
as it sweeps down from the Autumn mountains.

The crystal clear waters of the rivers flow among the land,
washing away the impurities and the old,
while instantly replenishing with beauty and life.

The wonderful winter wonderlands are soon to be,
and I can smell the fresh pure snow in the air,
as it prepares for it's journey over the mountains.

I hear birds call to one another amidst the trees,
sharing care and love while basking in the setting sun,
as the last golden leaf of the Aspen flutters to the ground.

I stand as one with beauty and nature,
and I feel weightless and free of form and thought,
as I breath in the energy of the pure fresh air.

It is the time of decadence and life's passing,
only to be still in the winter months,
and re-born in the spring with beauty and perfection.

Of the seasons of change throughout the years and our lives,
there are never more wondrous moments in time,
and nothing is more beautiful than that of the season of Autumn.

I forever long to feel the innocent child-like love of nature,
as the Autumn breeze blows by and by.

The Santa Index

Hmmm... Food for thought...

The latest surprise victims of the recession: Small-town Santas.
The latest surprise beneficiaries: Internet psychics.

Incidentally, consumer confidence has fallen to its lowest level ever recorded.

Why ask for toys from Santa when you’re asking a psychic about your chances of getting a pink slip this quarter?

We’re used to watching the TED spread as an indicator of economic health. Maybe we should start checking the Santa spread.

So Hilarious...

Something we don't see daily

Lessons of Discovery
Instruction Manuals for Living

Depending on what stage we are in our lives, we can sometimes feel like we ought to know more about who we are or how to live. We may even berate ourselves for making the same mistakes, or for just not "getting it," whatever "it" may be. We wonder how our lives would be now, if only we had “known better.” During moments like these, it is important to remember that none of us are born with instruction manuals and that learning lessons is a lifelong journey.

Inherent to our being born is that we are here to observe, learn, and grow. Accompanying this is a built-in guarantee that there will be mistakes and misadventures along the way. And while it is only natural that we may sometimes become overwhelmed, especially when the lessons keep coming, it is important to remember that learning to understand yourself and your world is an ongoing and active process where the journey is more important than the destination. Every lesson is intended so you can become more of who you are. And as you grow through this self-discovery, you begin to create your own instruction manual. The "how’s" and "why’s" are yours to discover, and part of the beauty of being alive is that these rules are always changing.

If you feel that you would like to explore what your personal instruction manual may already say, then try writing down in order some of the significant events that have happened to you. It’s also important to take note of what you learned from each one. When you are done, you may be surprised to discover how much you are always growing, and that every lesson learned always informs the next. That being said, there is never any need to be hard on yourself or think that you should have it all figured out. We always know as much as we’re meant to know at that moment, and growing into our fullness is a process that unfolds in divine timing. You and your life are beautiful works in progress. Discover yourself and embrace your life’s lessons, and your instruction manual will create itself.

The First Step

Awakening to Change
Being Aware is the First Step

Life is a journey comprised of many steps on our personal path that takes us down a winding road of constant evolution. And each day, we are provided with a myriad of opportunities that can allow us to transform into our next best selves. One moment we are presented with an opportunity to react differently when yet another someone in our life rubs us the wrong way; on another day we may find ourselves wanting to walk away from a particular circumstance but are not sure if we can. Eventually, we may find ourselves stuck in a rut that we can never seem to get out of. We may even make the same choices over and over again because we don't know how to choose otherwise. Rather than moving us forward, our personal paths may take us in a seemingly never-ending circle where our actions and choices lead us nowhere but to where we've already been. It is during these moments that awareness can be the first step to change.

Awareness is when we are able to realize what we are doing. We observe ourselves, noticing our reactions, actions, and choices as if we were a detached viewer. Awareness is the first step to change because we can't make a change unless we are aware that one needs to be made in the first place. We can then begin understanding why we are doing what we are doing. Afterward, it becomes difficult not to change because we are no longer asleep to the truth behind our behaviors. We also begin to realize that, just as much as we are the root source behind the causes for our behaviors, we are also the originator for any changes that we want to happen.

There is a freedom that comes with awareness. Rather than thinking that we are stuck in a repetitive cycle where there is no escape, we begin to see that we very much play a hand in creating our lives. Whether we are aware of them or not, our behaviors and choices are always ours to make. Our past and our present no longer have to dictate our future when we choose to be aware. We are then free to move beyond our old limits, make new choices, and take new actions. With awareness, our paths can't help but wind us forward in our lives while paving the way for new experiences and new ways of being. It is through awareness that we can continue to consciously evolve.

It's True about...

Unconditional Love

And Finding Peace

Unconditional Love opens us up to a new way of being that allows us to feel a greater sense of inner peace, freedom, and connection with the rest of the world.

It is a way of loving without any assigned conditions, such as wanting someone to be, feel, or act as we wish them too. Or expecting someone to do, feel, or say something towards us in return for our love towards them. There is no fear of rejection, no anticipation of hearing those three little words, or any control over how someone else lives their own life. The one and only experience, thought, and feeling that we encounter when sharing Unconditional Love with another... is Unconditional Love. We love, simply, for the expression of love.

The way a mother and child have an innate connection. The excitement our pet shows on their face as they run towards us. The way an elderly couple take care of one another, even in light of any mental or physical debilitating health. The way we feel in the deepest part of our Being when we sit alone and connect to Energy.

To share Unconditional Love with another, we must first harvest it for ourselves. We cannot share our glass of water with a friend, until we have the glass of water to begin with. When we free ourselves of fear, judgment, need, desire to control, expectations, and resentment, we allow a space for Unconditional Love to breathe. Through meditation, breath-work, affirmations, and other tools, we can release that which is no longer serving us in our lives. That which keeps us from growing, shifting, becoming... we may release. And in it's place, we shall fill up with Unconditional Love and share it with the world. When we sit with another and pass Unconditional Love onto them, and they receive and pass Love Energy back to us, then, both of our energies are amplified.

Walk up to a friend, family member, pet, or stranger and give them an unexpected hug... and then watch what happens. Unconditional Love makes positive shifts in the lives of all it touches; profoundly changing your own life and filling it with inner peace, freedom, and a greater feeling of connection to the world around you.

It is the greatest gift that you could give yourself, or another. Let your presence light the way... one heart at a time.

A Little Encouragement

Finding Encouragement

Your True Inner Voice

Within each of us, there are numerous voices often that compete for our attention. It can be difficult to decide which one to listen to, particularly when their messages are all quite different, sometimes conflicting, and even alluring. One voice, however, is the speaker of truth. Among all your inner voices, your true inner voice is the one which encourages you, gives you hope, and pushes you to trust and believe in yourself. Conflict within oneself is often caused by dueling voices inside of each one of us. As we move through life, we get mixed messages from the various aspects of ourselves. Some of our voices, such as the naysayer or saboteur, can speak so loudly that they drown out the voice of truth. Listening to your true inner voice – often the voice of understanding, support, and self-assurance - can help lessen and even resolve internal conflict.

If you’re looking toward the future but your faith in your ability to succeed in life is wavering, you will benefit from finding and listening to your true inner voice. You can connect with it by remaining relaxed and alert, while listening carefully. If you have trouble distinguishing your true voice from the others, meditation may be helpful. You may hear many voices as you meditate, but the one you should pay attention to is the one that speaks to you with love, understanding, and compassion. It will bolster your spirits and urge you to go after your dreams. And it will never cause confusion, remind you of past mistakes, or cause you to doubt yourself.

The more you listen to and believe in what your true inner voice is telling you about your value and your potential, the stronger that voice will become. And the more you disregard the voices that can interfere with your resolve to succeed, the quieter those voices will become. Saying no to the voices that are judgmental and make you feel ashamed will help you stop being critical of your failures and afraid of success. By finding and strengthening your true inner voice, you will be able to ignore internal conflict and pick out the one that speaks the truth.

Inflexible Judgments

Inflexible Judgments
And Creating Peace

Have you ever felt judgmental? Or, that you are feeling disapproval toward those whose beliefs differ from your own. Being inflexible in your personal beliefs leaves little room for a higher power or intelligence in your life or in the universe. It has often been said that while you point your finger at someone else, you have three fingers pointing back at you. This illustrates the concept that we are often the most judgmental when we see a reflection of ourselves in others that we don’t want to acknowledge. Inflexibility also leaves little space for growth or connection, and you can become very lonely. Though you may be feeling judgmental and disapproving, you can leave the judgment to others and invest your energy into your own life.

When we can accept that we don’t know everything, and there is much in the world that we don’t have any knowledge of, we open ourselves up to learning and understanding. If we take the time to see it, we may find that people aren’t very different no matter what part of the world they come from. At our core, we are family, all sharing the same home. We can try to isolate ourselves, but humans do better in communities. Today’s communications technology allows us to see immediately that what happens in one part of the world affects the rest. Being inflexible ultimately will not help you thrive or survive, but being willing to reach out and try to understand each other can create connection and a world of peace.

Question Re-Phrased...

Re-Phrased Question

Okay, so, after a few discussions, and some received input to my last question, I realized that I wasn't getting the responses I was looking for.

I realize that it is HUMAN NATURE to feel the NEED to compare and create an imaginary caste system that sets people at certain levels according to Amount of Life Experience.

With this known, my question now becomes:

How does one accept and deal with a person that feels that their ability to relate to others is dependent upon similar life experiences.

All thoughts and ideas are welcomed and never disregarded. Thanks for your input.

Why Must We Compare?

Why Must We Compare... ?

Things are as they are. We make no comparisons between right and wrong stars, nor between well and badly arranged constellations.

Why must we compare Ourselves and our Life Experiences to others. We all have different experiences. How can we compare Apples to Oranges, or say that one is superior to the other?

Do we compare simply because we need to validate our level on some Imaginary Caste System? Is it Ego Satisfaction? Or is there something deeper that maybe my 26 year old self just doesn't understand yet?

Veteran's Day and Marine Corps Birthday

Happy Veterans Day to All Vets.

Originally today was Armistice Day, commemorating the signing of the agreement that ended World War I at 11:00 A.M., November 11, 1918. This federal holiday was changed to Veterans Day in 1954. At that time, it became a day to honor all the men and women who have served in the armed forces of the United States.

And Yesterday, was the official birthday of the United States Marine Corps.
Happy Birthday My Fellow Marines.

November 10, was when the Second Continental Congress decreed: “That two battalions of Marines be raised consisting of one Colonel, two lieutenant-colonels, two majors and other officers, as usual in other regiments; that they consist of an equal number of privates as with other battalions, that particular care be taken that no persons be appointed to offices, or enlisted into said battalions, but such as are good seamen, or so acquainted with maritime affairs as to be able to serve for and during the present war with Great Britain and the Colonies; unless dismissed by Congress; that they be distinguished by the names of the First and Second Battalions of Marines. ”Tun Tavern is regarded as the location of the first Marines to enlist under Commandant Samuel Nicholas. When the Revolutionary War ended in 1783, the Continental Navy was disestablished, and with it, the Continental Marines. The Corps was re-established on 11 July 1798, when the "act for establishing and organizing a Marine Corps" was signed by President John Adams.

Prior to 1921, Marines celebrated the recreation of the Corps on 11 July with little pomp or pagentry. On October 21, 1921, Major Edwin McClellan, in charge the Corps' only historical section, sent a memorandum to Commandant John A. Lejeune, suggesting the Marines’ original birthday of November 10 be declared a Marine Corps holiday to be celebrated throughout the Corps.

The celebrations were formalized and standardized by Commandant Lemuel C. Shepherd, Jr. in 1952, outlining the cake cutting ceremony, which would enter the Marine Drill Manual in 1956. By tradition, the first slice of cake is given to the oldest Marine present, who in turn hands it off to the youngest Marine present, symbolizing the old and experienced Marines passing their knowledge to the new generation of Marines. The celebration also includes a reading of Marine Corps Order 47, republished every year, as well as a message from the current Commandant, and often includes a banquet and dancing if possible. In many cases, the birthday celebration will also include a pageant of current and historical Marine Corps uniforms, as a reminder of the history of the Corps. Marines are reputed to celebrate the birthday, regardless of where they may be in the world, even in austere environments or combat.

I share my My Deepest Gratitude for all who've served. Thank You.
May you one day realize just how important of a part you play in making history.

Michael A. Cordova

HISTORY...

Barack Obama
44th Presidential Elect

What an INCREDIBLE time in History to witness, and be a part of.

I'm ever so thankful that there were more than enough people out there, that understood the value of creating a change in a nation. As change is the only constant in our universe, we must embrace it, and accept it; and according to record numbers, we can see that there was a general consensus among ALL, that Change was necessary, and we all came together to make it happen!!!

As Veteran's Day approaches, I have never felt more proud of and for my country and the people. I served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Operation Enduring Freedom Wars. I remember falling asleep in the deserts beneath the starry skies of Iraq, and waking up to beautiful sunrises. I remember experiencing what it is actually like to fear for my life as I endured my moments of combat. I remember moments of wonderful friendship with complete strangers, only to say farewell to them days later as they took their journey into the heaven's above. I remember knowing that the only thing that I had to push me through some of the darkest moments of my life, was the knowledge of how to do so, and the Love of my friends and family back home. I Proudly served my country in the Marine Corps, the most difficult branch of service, for 8 years, and never regret a single moment. If situations were different, I would still be active duty, and would have just begun by 9th year as a Marine. Maybe a different lifetime will tell that story.

So, this is a time in our history, in our NOW, to celebrate, and to understand that what is happening, is nothing more and nothing less than Complete Perfection. What a time to be alive. And, just as I have endured through a dark stretch of my life only to wake up to brighter sunrises and beautiful days filled with abundance and prosperity, the nation and the world will begin to celebrate with me.

It's time for me to start planning my first long vacation in 5 years, and there's never been a better reason to travel and Celebrate. My FIRST stop along my journey is going to be my first time in Puerto Vallarta, or Cancun, Mexico. I haven't been to either place yet, and there's never a better time to do so than while I'm in my 20's. Heck, Maybe Spring Break. Anyone Wanna Tag Along?

P.S. I FINALLY got to open my bottle of Veuve Clicquot. I've had it since MAY, and couldn't find a good enough reason to pop it. And Tonight, I did just that. (Glad I Saved it...)

Congratulations Obama and Family,
And Happy Pre-Veteran's Day to All Military Veteran's
Thank You For Your Service.

Love and Light to ALL,
Mike

Emptiness --> Openness...

Emptiness Becomes Openness
Sometimes a Loss Can Be a Gain

When we lose anything that we cherish, the sense of emptiness we are left behind with can be overwhelming. A space that was filled, whether in our lives or our hearts, is now a void, and the feelings of pain, loss, and separation can sometimes be difficult to bear. While it is always important to honor what we've lost, sometimes a loss can also represent a chance for a new beginning. When we are ready, the void left by a relationship, a job, or a dream can then be viewed as open space that can be filled with something new: new experiences, new knowledge, new job opportunities, new dreams, new people, and new ways to grow.

There are many ways to weave the threads of loss into a blessing. If you've lost a job or ended a relationship, your first thoughts may revolve around filling the void with a similar job or the same kind of relationship. Try not to rush into anything just to fill up the emptiness. The loss of a job can free you up to explore new opportunities, especially if you've outgrown the old one. Likewise, the loss of a relationship can give you a chance to rediscover your own interests, explore new passions, and meet different people.

If seeking the good in what seems like a bad situation makes you feel uncomfortable, then try to remember that you are not devaluing what you've lost or replacing it cold-heartedly. You are surrendering to the fact that, in life, we sometimes have to let go and allow for what is new to enter into the open spaces created by our losses. In doing so, you are honoring what has left you and welcoming the new into your life with open space, an open mind, and an open heart.

Owning Our Actions...

Taking Responsibility For Our Actions
And Doing What is Right

Most of us hesitate to confess our mistakes. We are equally reluctant to express regret, and it is a rare person who tries to make amends or even simply render a heartfelt apology.

It is this reluctance of most people to admit that they've committed a mistake that forms the root of much human strife. An unforgiving, unrepentant nature - whether among individuals, families, communities or nations - is responsible for misunderstandings that lead to enmity and hatred.

Asked what she thought was most needed in the coming century, the celebrated historian Barbara Tuchman and Pulitzer prize winner said: "Personal responsibility... taking responsibility for your behaviour and not forever supposing that society must forgive you because it's not your fault". The mistake may not be totally one's own. But usually, in some subtle way - either through action, reaction or even inaction - we played our role poorly. A teenager had just passed his driving test and was eager to drive his father's car. His father agreed. He asked his son to drop him at a place that was some 18 miles from home before he took the car for servicing. The father then wanted his son to pick him up at four in the afternoon so that they could go home together.

The boy dropped off his father, took the car to the garage and went to watch a film. Losing track of time, he continued to watch the film until 6 pm.

Afraid his father would scold him for being late and would never give him the car again, the boy collected the car, arrived at the appointed place and said, "Dad, I'm sorry I'm late but it took the mechanic longer than usual to service the car."

"Son, I phoned the garage," his father replied. "The car was ready at 4 p.m." The boy looked down. "I'm sorry, but I went to watch a film." "Son, I'm very angry," replied the father after a moment of thought. "But not with you. I'm angry with myself. Where did I go wrong as a father? Why did you have to lie to me? Take the car home. I will introspect as I walk back."

The boy trailed behind his father, imploring him to sit inside the car. But his father continued walking silently, soul-searching all the way back home. Distraught, the son pledged to never again lie to his parents.

In the story, not only the boy, his father, too, gets transformed. We all need to examine ourselves inside - have we gone wrong somewhere? For, it is almost impossible to change others, but we can change ourselves. If we all decided to do just that, there would be no need to change anybody else anyway. The world would be transformed in a single blow.

Another thing that we need to change is our negative attitude to life. So few seem to be truly happy. Happiness is relative. It has little to do with money, fame or power. Why else do so many people who have all three end up leading miserable lives? A positive attitude will make you grow. You will be able to achieve happiness and spread it around, making the world a better place to live in.

The Deep... And The Blue...

Plunging Into The Deep
Life Can Be Scary

Life can take us on a roller coaster ride full of highs and lows and twists and turns. Even for those of us who enjoy unexpected thrills, it's frightening to suddenly find ourselves heading for a deep plunge. Yet, it happens to all of us. At these moments, it is important to remember that you are not alone in your experiences. No matter how brave, strong, or levelheaded we are, sometimes, we all get scared.

Our fears may revolve around our physical safety, particularly if we are not feeling well, living under difficult circumstances, or doing work that exposes us to hazardous conditions. Or, we may be experiencing financial woes that are causing us to be fearful about making ends meet. We may also fear the loss of a loved one who is sick, or we may be scared of never finding someone special to spend our life with. We may be scared to start at a new school, begin a different job, move to a new town, or meet new people. Whatever our fears are, they are valid, and we do not need to feel ashamed or embarrassed that we are, at times, afraid.

It may be comforting to know that everyone gets scared, and it is perfectly OK. Sometimes just acknowledging our fears is enough to make us feel better. And while it sometimes takes a lot more to ease our mind, we can console ourselves with the knowledge that life can be scary at times. Giving ourselves permission to be scared lets us move through our fears so we can let it go. It also makes it alright to share our fears with others. Sharing our apprehensions with other people can make our fears less overwhelming because we are not letting them grow inside of us as pent up emotions. Sharing our fears also can lighten our burden because we are not carrying our worries all by ourselves. Remember that you are not alone.

And, just a side note:
