You Have All the Answers
Many of us seek the answers to life’s questions by looking outside of ourselves and trying to glean advice from the people around us. But as each of us is unique, with our own personal histories, our own sense of right and wrong, and our own way of experiencing the world that defines our realities, looking to others for our answers is only partially helpful. The answers to our personal questions can be most often found by looking within. When we realize that we always have access to the part of us that always knows what we need and is meant to act as our inner compass, we can stop searching outside of ourselves. If we can learn to hear, trust, and embrace the wisdom that lives within each of us, we will be able to confidently navigate our lives.
Trusting our inner wisdom may be awkward at first, particularly if we grew up around people who taught us to look to others for answers. We each have exclusive access to our inner knowing. All we have to do is remember how to listen. Remember to be patient as we relearn how to hear, receive, and follow our own guidance. If we are unsure about whether following our inner wisdom will prove reliable, we may want to think of a time when we did trust our own knowing and everything worked out. Recall how the answers came to us, how they felt in our body as we considered them, and what happened when we acted upon this guidance. Now, we recall a time when we didn’t trust ourselves and the results didn’t work out as we had hoped. Trusting our own guidance can help us avoid going against what we instinctively know is right for each of us.
When we second guess ourselves and go against what we know to be our truth, we can easily go off course because we are no longer following our inner compass. By looking inside ourselves for the answers to our life’s questions, we are consulting our best guide. Only we can know the how’s and why’s of our lives. The answers that we seek can be found when we start answering our own questions.
