Embracing Unpredictability
When Life Throws You A Curve Ball

In life, we are always setting goals for ourselves and working to make them happen. This gives us focus and ensures that we use our time and energy efficiently and effectively. It also provides us with a sense of purpose and direction. We know where we are going and what we want to do. But quite often, due to forces outside our control, things do not go as we had planned—the flat tire on the way to the wedding, the unforeseen flu virus—and we have to adjust to a postponement or create a whole new set of circumstances. Even positive turns of fortune — an unexpected influx of cash or falling in love — require us to be flexible and to reconsider our plans and priorities, sometimes in the blink of an eye. This is what happens when life throws you a curve ball.

The ability to accept what is happening and let go of your original expectations is key when dealing with these unexpected turns of fate. We have a tendency to get stuck in our heads, clinging to an idea of how we think life should go, and we can have a hard time accepting anything that doesn’t comply with that idea. The fact is that life is unpredictable. The trip you thought was for business — and when the deal fell through, you got depressed — actually landed you at the airport two days earlier than planned so you could meet the love of your life. Your car breaks down, and you are late for an appointment. While it’s true that you never arrive at that important meeting, you end up spending a few relaxing hours with people you would never have met otherwise.

In order to keep us awake to opportunity and to teach us equanimity, the universe throws us the occasional curve ball. Remember that curve balls are not only life’s way of keeping us awake, which is a gift in and of itself; they are also often life’s way of bringing us wonderful surprises. Next time a curve ball comes your way, take a deep breath, say thank you, and open your mind to a new opportunity.

Just some cool Lyrics from a song by one of my favorite Artists that I've been listening to a lot more lately. Maybe it's the talent, maybe it's the message, maybe it's the song and maybe it's the tune. Some words speak louder than others, and these words spoke to me. :)

Enjoy... The youtube video is at the end...

Forget About It (Lyrics)
Artist: Allison Krauss

Forget about it
I'm admittin' I was wrong
And I'll just take what's mine
And broken right out the door

Forget about it
I'll split and I'll be gone
And you'll have memories
You'll find hard to ignore

'Cause after all
I'll see you sometime
Maybe when I can't recall
How you drove me crazier

Forget about it
When forever's over
I won't remember how much
I loved you anymore

Forget about it
Put me out of your head
Now that you're free and easy
Out there on the town

Forget about it
When you're lying in bed just wishing
I was there to lay you down

'Cause after all
I'll see you sometime maybe
When you will recall
How I drove you crazier

Forget about those starlit nights
Laying by the fireside
Holding you tight
I can't remember when I felt so right
So just forget about it

Forget about it
When you see me on the street
Don't wink, don't wave
Don't try to tease me with your smile

Forget about it
If we chance to meet somewhere
Don't think it's cause I'm trying to reconcile

'Cause after all
I'll see you sometime maybe
When I can't recall
How you drove me crazier

Forget about those starlit nights
Laying by the fireside
Holding you tight
I can't remember when I felt so right
So just forget about it

Going With The Flow...

Enjoying the Ride
The Flow of the Universe

The flow of the universe moves through everything. It’s in the rocks that form, get pounded into dust, and are blown away, the sprouting of a summer flower born from a seed planted in the spring, the growth cycle that every human being goes through, and the current that takes us down our life’s paths. When we move with the flow, rather than resisting it, we are riding on the universal current that allows us to flow with life.

Many people live their lives struggling against this current. They try to use force or resistance to will their lives into happening the way they think it should. Others move with this flow like a sailor using the wind, trusting that the universe is taking them exactly where they need to be at all times. This flow is accessible to everyone because it moves through and around us. We are always riding this flow. It’s just a matter of whether we are willing to go with it or resist it. Tapping into the flow is often a matter of letting go of the notion that we need to be in control at all times. The flow is always taking you where you need to go. It’s just a matter of deciding whether you plan on taking the ride or dragging your feet.

Learning to step into the flow can help you feel a connection to a force that is greater than you and is always there to support you. The decision to go with the flow can take courage because you are surrendering the notion that you need to do everything by yourself. Riding the flow of the universe can be effortless, exhilarating, and not like anything that you ever expected. When you are open to being in this flow, you open yourself to possibilities that exist beyond the grasp of your control. As a child, you were naturally swept by the flow. Tears of sadness falling down your face could just as quickly turn to tears of laughter. Just the tiniest wave carrying you forward off the shores of the ocean could carry you into peals of delight. Our souls feel good when we go with the flow of the universe. All we have to do is make the choice to ride its currents.

TO MY LOVED ONES!!!
Happy Halloween Time!!!

May your festivities bring bright and colorful ceremonies, as we celebrate All Hallows Eve and/or Halloween. Or if you don't celebrate, there's no better time to go out scaring little children with a scary costume. (Just kidding, kinda...)
Oh, and you simply cannot ask for anything more exciting than Creatively Carving Pumpkins with the ones you love. This truly is the season that families, friends and couples get closer, and it's not just because of the weather! It is truly marvelous.

I was taking a break this afternoon in my back yard, and there were so many wonderful colors on the ground. Yellow, Orange, Red, Brown, Some Green... I took some deep breaths, and centered myself in a pure state of knowing that I am in a balanced state of Emotional, Mental, Spiritual, Physical, Social and Financial perfection. I continued to breath, and then I suddenly returned to nature, and beauty.

I've gotta say, this year has been one incredibly amazing year so far. This summer and autumn were two seasons totally worth remembering, as it brought about test after test, and trial after trial. But, as I look back upon my trials and triumphs, I see that everything has been nothing other than Completely Perfect. Not that I am just starting out in my life (considering I turned 26 this year), but I guess you can say, I've been creating a NEW life for myself; one that better represents my deepest desires, and my most heartfelt wishes.

I've finally found along my path of life, the tracks I need to be taking, in order to get to where I want to be in my goals for success and happiness. I've immersed myself into a tremendous amount of personal development over the past year, and just as I thought things couldn't be any worse, and the skies couldn't be any darker, everything in my life changed, and the light at the end of the tunnel became ever so clear and apparent. I couldn't be happier right here and right now, at this very moment that I am alive and breathing and Loving and feeling Loved. My Life is Truly Perfect.

Call me a "Maverick" of sorts. lol... I've picked up an incredible job in Denver as the Director of Marketing, Media and Promotions for 3 amazing restaurants that I've been frequenting for the past 9 years of my life. What makes the whole situation even better is the fact that I have 9 years of belief in these companies, and I know that my Graphic Design talents and Interpersonal Communication abilities can be put to use to help boost the Company Profits and Name Recognition.

I've also chosen the path that has led me to The Art Institute of Colorado. I'm completely enrolled in school, and I must share my total Gratitude for the Marine Corps for better allowing this to happen, and happen so quickly. I start School in January 2009, and I will be receiving my Associates Degree in Graphic Arts and Design toward the end of Summer 2010. It's Happening. It's REALLY HAPPENING. And, it's my first time back in the school environment since I graduated from my Military Schooling in Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri in 2001.

BIG CHANGES, and I've always welcomed Change with Wide Open Arms, (It's what makes my life SO Exciting...)

I must share my deepest warmth and gratitude for all of you, for being a part of my life. It's so wonderful to know that I have so many wonderful and caring people from every walk of life, in my life. So, as darkness falls across the land, and the Midnight Hour is close at hand, the creatures crawl in search of blood, to terrorize your neighborhood. Don't get caught as the Vampires Victim, take care of yourself, and take some time to HAVE FUN FOR THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND for whatever reason that you wish, (or for none at all)... :)

AND, most importantly, you must always remember to Breath a lot, and Drink lot's of Water. And... Watch out for Tarzan swingin' through the trees on Halloween night...

I'm including a poem that I wrote toward the end of October in 2005.
Wow, how far ago that seems, and yet, how true and ever constant the words and meaning.

Enjoy the reading below...
Happy Halloween Season...

*Circle of Life...
By: Michael A. Cordova

Plugging into the Circle of life,
and giving to and drawing out the energy.
The pictures becomes more clear,
and the responses become real.

Creating unity with static energy,
and with the flowing energy of life.
Giving into the unlimited expressions,
the truest forms of life are revealed.

Waking the giant within,
and feeling the surge of,
intense, electrical,
and deeply emotional responses.

Energies, one form to another,
is all and everything that we are.
The capabilities and the possibilities,
and the endless forms of super-creations.

Being the ultimate true oneness,
and to possess the gift,
to give back to life what it has given,
becomes the circle of Life .

Looking for Answers?

Finding Answers Within
You Have All the Answers

Many of us seek the answers to life’s questions by looking outside of ourselves and trying to glean advice from the people around us. But as each of us is unique, with our own personal histories, our own sense of right and wrong, and our own way of experiencing the world that defines our realities, looking to others for our answers is only partially helpful. The answers to our personal questions can be most often found by looking within. When we realize that we always have access to the part of us that always knows what we need and is meant to act as our inner compass, we can stop searching outside of ourselves. If we can learn to hear, trust, and embrace the wisdom that lives within each of us, we will be able to confidently navigate our lives.

Trusting our inner wisdom may be awkward at first, particularly if we grew up around people who taught us to look to others for answers. We each have exclusive access to our inner knowing. All we have to do is remember how to listen. Remember to be patient as we relearn how to hear, receive, and follow our own guidance. If we are unsure about whether following our inner wisdom will prove reliable, we may want to think of a time when we did trust our own knowing and everything worked out. Recall how the answers came to us, how they felt in our body as we considered them, and what happened when we acted upon this guidance. Now, we recall a time when we didn’t trust ourselves and the results didn’t work out as we had hoped. Trusting our own guidance can help us avoid going against what we instinctively know is right for each of us.

When we second guess ourselves and go against what we know to be our truth, we can easily go off course because we are no longer following our inner compass. By looking inside ourselves for the answers to our life’s questions, we are consulting our best guide. Only we can know the how’s and why’s of our lives. The answers that we seek can be found when we start answering our own questions.

Hidden Treasures
Finding Another Vantage Point

The ocean can look very different, depending on whether you are standing at the shore, soaring above in a plane, or swimming beneath its waves. Likewise, a mountain can look very different relative to where you are standing. Each living thing sees the world from its unique vantage point. While from your window you may be seeing what looks like a huge shrub, a bird in its nest is getting an intimate view of that tree's leafy interior. Meanwhile, a beetle sees only a massive and never-ending tree trunk. Yet all three of you are looking at the same tree.

Just as a shadow that is concealed from one point of view is easily seen from another, it is possible to miss a fantastic view. That is, unless you are willing to see what's in front of you through different eyes. Seeing the world from another perspective, whether spatially or mentally, can introduce you to all sorts of hidden treasures. The root of the discovery process often lies in finding another way of looking at the world. The common human reaction to insects is one example. Spinning its web in a dark corner, a spider may seem drab, frightening, and mysterious. But seen up close weaving silver snowflakes between the branches of a tree, they can look like colored jewels.

Sometimes, there are experiences in life that from your vantage point may seem confusing, alarming, or worrisome. Or there may be events that look insignificant from where you are standing right now. Try seeing them from another point of view. How does the situation look now? Try burying your face in the grass and looking at the world from a bug's vantage point. Explore your home as if you were a small child. Take a ride in a small aircraft and experience the world from a bird's eye view. Just as kneeling down or standing on a chair can help you find a lost object, so can seeing a broader or the more focused picture help you find wisdom or hidden treasures. In doing so, you'll experience a very different world.

The Full Hunter's Moon
October 14, 2008

The Hunter's Moon (also known as Blood Moon or Sanguine Moon) is the first full moon after the harvest moon which is nearest the autumnal equinox.

In general, the moon rises about 50 minutes later each day, as it moves in orbit around Earth. All full moons rise around the time of sunset. The Harvest Moon and Hunter's Moon are special because - as seen from the northern hemisphere - the time of moonrise on successive evenings is shorter than usual. The moon rises approximately 30 minutes later, from one night to the next, as seen from about 40 degrees N. latitude, for several evenings around the full Hunter's or Harvest Moons.

Thus there is no long period of darkness between sunset and moonrise, around the time of these full moons. In times past, this feature of these autumn moons was said to help hunters tracking their prey (or, in the case of the Harvest Moon, farmers working in the fields). They could continue tracking their prey (or bringing in their crops) by moonlight even when the sun had gone down. Hence the name Hunter's (or Harvest) Moon.

The reason for the shorter-than-usual rising time between successive moonrises around the time of the Harvest and Hunter's Moon is that the orbit of the Moon makes a narrow angle with respect to the horizon in the evening in autumn, leading the Moon to higher positions in the sky each successive day.

A Conscious Delicatessen...
By: Mike A. Cordova

It was incredibly delicious
as I was sitting here realizing the moment.
The moment.
The moment.

It all made complete sense,
and then at the very same time
it made no sense at all.

I became lost in the realization that everything,
everything,
and even more of everything
is simply just the illusion and the experience
of consciousness in a self-realized form,
realizing itself.

I tasted yuminess,
and it never tasted so good.

Interconnected Experiences
Noticing Synchronicity

When events appear to fit together perfectly in our lives it may seem at first that they are random occurrences, things that are the result of coincidence. These synchronous happenings, though, are much more than that, for, if we look at them more closely they can show us that the universe is listening to us and gently communicating with us. Learning to pay attention to and link the things that occur on a daily basis can be a way for us to become more attuned to the fact that most everything happens in our lives for a reason – even when that reason is not clear right away.

When we realize that things often go more smoothly than we can ever imagine, it allows us to take the time to reflect on the patterns in our lives. Even events that might not at first seem to be related to each other are indicators that the universe is working with, not against, us. This idea of synchronicity, then, means that we have to trust there is more to our lives than what we experience on a physical level. We need to be willing to look more closely at the bigger picture, accepting and having confidence in the fact that there is more to our experiences than immediately meets the eye. Being open to synchronicity also means that we have to understand that our lives are filled with events that can be considered positive or negative. Once we can recognize that one event is neither more desirable nor better than the other – they all have an overall purpose in our lives -- then we are truly ready to listen to the messages the universe gives us.

While we may not be able to see everything in our lives as being synchronous, we can certainly use hindsight to be more aware of how the universe guides us. This sense of wonder at the mysteries of the universe and the interconnectedness present in our lives will help us see our overall ways of being and will in turn make it easier to work more consciously towards our spiritual evolution.

*The Bewildering Brook...
By: Michael A. Cordova

The bewildering Brook of love,
It runs free without constant form,
Twisting through the landscape,
Coexisting with the natural flow,
Beginning at the peaks of height,
Only to return after a thousand years.

The bewildering Brook of love,
Born within the heart,
And returning to the heart,
The cycle of life,
Omnipotence in form,
The Bewildering Brook of Love.

Mad Hatter Day...

MAD HATTER DAY

1. What Is It?

MadHatterDay is a holiday in October. It fills the need for a second crazy day in the year, almost exactly half a year from April Fools' Day. The real spirit of MadHatterDay is turnabout: The nonsense we usually have to pretend is sane can be called madness for one day in the year; the superficially crazy things that really make sense can be called sane on MadHatterDay.

MadHatterDay is 10/6. The date was chosen from the illustrations by John Tenniel in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, wherein the Mad Hatter is always seen wearing a hat bearing a slip of paper with the notation "In this style 10/6". We take this as inspiration to behave in the style of the Mad Hatter on 10/6 (which is October 6 here, although in Britain MadHatterDay occurs on June 10...but I digress...) Some astute observers have noted that the paper in the Mad Hatter's Hat was really an order to make a hat in the style shown, to cost ten shillings sixpence. However, it is well known that Time Is Money, and therefore Money Is Time, and therefore 10/6 may as well be the sixth of October.

MadHatterDay began in Boulder, CO, in 1986, among some computer folk who had nothing better to do. It was immediately recognized as valuable because they caused less damage than if they'd been doing their jobs. It was announced that first year on computer networks. In 1987 it gained minor local recognition. In 1988, it was first recognized as an official holiday by an area business, and also received its first national press coverage by news services (who are always desperate for an unlikely story). It is almost certain that the national election also gave MadHatterDay a good boost in 1988.

Detailed plans for this year's MadHatterDay observance will, of course, be announced on October 7. We have found that plans made after the fact are more accurate and much easier to have fulfilled. Or, as the Red Queen said, "sentence first, then the verdict!"

2. What Goes?

What do people do on MadHatterDay? In general, we celebrate silliness. But what if your work involves something inherently silly -- say marketing, where you put on a three-piece suit (five or six layers of fabric) in the summertime, tie a piece of cloth around your neck to restrict blood flow to the brain, and set about trying to convince people to buy things they don't want and can't afford because this will give the country a Healthy Economy? In this case, doing something absolutely sane will have a more startling effect than you can possibly imagine.

Your world is crazier than you think:

* We travel around by taking the juice from hundred-million-year-old rotten dinosaur food and exploding it in a metal can.

* A "sports fanatic" is not someone who participates in sports, but someone who sits indoors on a beautiful day, drinking beer while yelling at the picture on a little box. (Throw the ultimate football party: Forget the TV; just sit around eating and drinking with friends.)

* As much as we say we like to "get away from it all", the more successful we are, the more we take it all with us when we go. (Take a vacation with all the comforts of home: Just stay home!)

* We're so well-fed that we're getting food with intentionally reduced nutritional content--so we can take the trouble to eat without getting the benefit of doing so. (Enjoy the ultimate in fast-diet-food: Skip lunch.)

* We've saved so much gift-giving for the Christmas season that it has entirely unbalanced the flow of cash and consumer goods through the year. So merchants decided to start the season early to have something to do the rest of the year. (There's now only one major gift-giving holiday -- but it lasts for five months. Surprise someone with a MadHatterDay present.)

...and it goes. Take a look around you, drop your assumptions about what must be proper and normal, and see how much of it is just silly. Better yet, try to find something that does make sense.

Don't hurt anyone. Save the pranks for April 1. This is "a Kinder, Gentler Fool's Day."

And it's the day after Ari Rapkin's birthday. What better excuse?

Fresh and Unfixed...

Fresh and Unfixed
There Is Only Now

It can be easy for us to walk through the world and our lives without really being present. While dwelling on the past and living for the future are common pastimes, it is physically impossible to live anywhere but the present moment. We cannot step out our front door and take a left turn to May of last year, any more than we can take a right turn to December 2010. Nevertheless, we can easily miss the future we are waiting for as it becomes the now we are too busy to pay attention to. We then spend the rest of our time playing “catch up” to the moment that we just let pass by. During moments like these, it is important to remember that there is only Now.

In order to feel more at home in the present moment, it is important to try to stay aware, open, and receptive. Being in the present moment requires our full attention so that we are fully awake to experience it. When we are fully present, our minds do not wander. We are focused on what is going on right now, rather than thinking about what just happened or worrying about what is going to happen next. Being present lets us experience each moment in our lives in a way that cannot be fully lived through memory or fantasy.

When we begin to corral our attention into the present moment, it can be almost overwhelming to be here. There is a state of stillness that has to happen that can take some getting used to, and the mind chatter that so often gets us into our heads and out of the present moment doesn’t have as much to do. We may feel a lack of control because we aren’t busy planning our next move, assessing our current situation, or anticipating the future. Instead, being present requires that we be flexible, creative, attentive, and spontaneous. Each present moment is completely new, and nothing like it has happened or will ever happen again. As we move through our day, we can remember to stay present in each moment. In doing so, we will live our life without having to wait for the future or yearn for the past. Life happens to us when we happen to life in the Now.
